Note the date and time – lol – this is how I will keep it straight. Maybe.
First Aussie shopping trip to Cole’s (supermarket).
1. What’s with all the round-a-bouts?? Scary! Especially with Enzo at the wheel!
- The bread is so wide! The slices are easily ¼ inch larger than in the U.S. So much for Americans and large servings…Aussies have us beat there. You can’t order your deli meat by the pound. Duh! Had to get Enzo to order for me until I figure out this kilogram thing. I do so hate being mathematically challenged.
- No provolone cheese. Poor girl looked bewildered when I asked. Forget about American cheese. I wanted to get Swiss but Enzo doesn’t like it. No sliced cheese here either; we had to buy a wedge that Anna says is the best, so we’ll give it a shot.
- Kellogg’s Raisin Bran is called Sultana Bran here. Same box though. Interestingly, Rice Krispies are called Rice Bubbles. Gotta get a picture of that.
- Very expensive groceries – bought very little and spent $74. Guess we’ll be eating a lot of cereal and PBJ (well, I will – Aussies don’t care for Peanut butter and jelly. How odd is that to Americans?! We were raised on it!
There are different birds here. Two large white birds with long beaks just landed on the fence. They look a little like owls with beaks. I went inside to get my camera but they were gone when I came back.
Thanks Kaz...
